At Ada Forge Books , this mission goes beyond technology. It’s personal.
My mother. "Momma" as we called her. Was the heart and soul of our family. She was full of love, strength, and quiet determination. But in her early 40s, she began suffering from advanced periodontal disease. Despite treatment, she eventually lost all of her teeth. Not long after, she started showing signs of Alzheimer’s. What began with small memory lapses eventually progressed into a devastating diagnosis. In 2021, after years of struggle, she passed away.
What makes this even more heartbreaking is that it wasn’t unique in our family. Several other family members faced a similar path—early-onset periodontal disease, total tooth loss, followed by the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Each of them battled the same two conditions, and each of them was taken by Alzheimer’s.
This recurring pattern in my family has opened my eyes to a deeply important and growing area of research: the potential connection between periodontal disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Emerging studies suggest that chronic gum disease and the bacteria associated with it may play a role in triggering or accelerating neurodegenerative processes. Understanding this connection could be a key to prevention, early detection, and perhaps even a cure.
That’s why I’ve made it part of Ada Forge Book’s mission to support this vital cause. 5% of all profits received through Ada Forge Books are donated to Alzheimer’s Association, one of the most highly regarded organizations advancing the science of Alzheimer’s prevention and treatment.
By supporting Ada Forge Books, you're not only supporting my dream, you’re also joining the fight against a disease that affects millions of families, including my own.
Let’s forge a better future, together.
